Haven't heard of him before-love the name-now starting for SMU Nose Guard Lorenzo Barnes-got to be a player right? Anyway only 6-0, 320 according to Scout-unrated but he is the Class 3A State Powerlifting Champ so you'd think you could get him to train hard. Some of those weightlifters get stiff though.

Article said that he is down to 305. Is he a junior or senior?

I think he's a Senior. He's all over YouTube with incredible 825 pound squats and 500 pound benchpresses. Hard to tell how quick he is because he is wearing braces for the lifts. Now they claim he runs a 5.1 but if he did every football team in the country that uses a NG would be all over him. So I bet he doesn't. May remind oldtimers of one of the great Rice players from yesteryear Rodrigo Barnes-now that guy could play.

Rodrigo Barnes had 6 foot long arms. Not sure how tall he was but he was kind of lanky and would just swat down passes from his linebacker position.

We need some depth at that position and Evan could play better at 305 too.

Big is great but big and quicker is better. Duh.

We need depth and I bet the right weight coach came get him RIGHT.

I remember the great Rodrigo Barnes. Growing up in Houston in the 70's I went to quite a few Rice games ( my father is an alum) and watched Rodrigo tear apart opposing offensive lines. He was always double teamed yet he still managed to get in on his share of tackles.
He was an incredible player and it is shocking that Rice could land a player of his caliber on such lousy teams.

Rodrigo was the scariest player I ever played against and we were not on the field at the same time.
