Got them today per the UH rivals site. Win over highly ranked BCS team really helped evidently.

I think I figured out who they are-neither was that highly recruited and SMU wasn't involved in their recruitment.

actually they got a 3rd commitment-not sure who the third is. The first two show up on the Rivals commitment lists now. If Sumlin were to leave I bet the first name on their list is Turner Gill.

I doubt Turner Gill would be interested in the UH job, although its a good job with the talent on that team. I really think he is holding out for a job in a BCS conference. He is a good coach and knows how to turn around a program.

Kevin Sumlin is doing a heck of a job down there.

UH is my second favorite team behind SMU and Kevin Sumlin is doing a FANTASTIC job. But, lets keep in mind it is a lot easier to do a very good job when you inherit a team that has been to bowl games 4 of the past 5 seasons before you arrived.
What I think Sumlin can do and is doing is elevate UH even higher. Rather than 7-9 win seasons with a likely bowl loss (the typical Briles year), I think Sumlin will take UH to being a non-BCS team with a chance to win 10 games per season routinely. There is really no reason (other than gawd awful Robertson stadium) that UH shouldn't be one of the top nonBCS teams every season.

Houston will NEVER be my favorite team especially after we lost to them 95-21 after coming back from the death penalty in 1989!

The real upside for UH if they keep Sumlin is still down the road since Sumlin has recruited a better caliber player than Briles. I mentioned prior to the season that they were loaded-but I thought they were a year away for competing for a BCS bid. Check out their roster out-much of their best players especially on Offense are still youngsters
Keenum Jr
Bell Soph
Cleveland Jr
Edwards Soph
Carrier Soph
Dugat Fr
Carl Sims Fr
Castille Soph
E.J. Smith Soph
Kierre Johnson Soph
4/5 OLM Starters are Juniors or younger
All these guys are proven players who have already performed at a very high level or hot shot freshman already contributing significantly. In fact, UH doesn't really have a Senior at any of its skill positions that is really significantly contributing to their success. BTW Keenum redshirted as a freshman-I bet they are thinking that was a damn good idea right about now.

Sumlin is in fact recruiting better players, or more highly sought after players, than Briles did while at UH but many of the list you just rattled off as their top young players were recruited by Briles. Just trying to be fair.

Some may have been recruited by Briles but they are playing better under Coach Sumlin. Which shows he is not just a good recruiter but he is also a good coach.
