TCU Reportedly Had 400 2010-2011 Recruits at Game

Postby Stallion » Mon Nov 16, 2009 12:11 am

I don't know if its true but its being reported repeatedly. I'm almost relieved. Don't see how you concentrate on your targets (or our commitments) with those numbers. Hopefully they got lost in the numbers. I'd save the honorable mention All-District types for spring practice and invite only the 2010 guys you are focused on.

I was there. Saw some recruits after the game kind of off by themselves not being attended to by any TCU staff, and thought about how you all you hear from SMU recruits is how personal their visit was.

As we all know young players can think and having 400 recruits at a game at one time must put some doubt in a recruits head. Seems like a bad recruiting move to me. Sure this was not free tickets to all the local hs teams.

Hahaha...400 recruits...How many of them said "yeah, I'll take the ticket" with no plans to even give TCU consideration?

Bringing that many recruits in is against the first rule of How to Recruit 101: Make the prospect feel special.

Didn't two of our commits take in the game? Anyone talked to them since?
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

The Tcu rivals site has a write up of what Ricky Collins and Jeremy Johnson thought of the game. I am to poor to subscribe to the Tcu site, but some of you that arent might want to check it out.

Interesting quote from a highly sought after 2011 player on TCU -SMU:

"Coming into the trip to SMU last weekend, I would say that they were at the bottom of the list, but after Saturday, they are second,” said Dewey. “It was my first time and I didn't know what to expect. I went to TCU and heard it was pretty similar. I wasn't very impressed with TCU's campus when I went, so I was a little nervous, but SMU's campus was beautiful. All the facilities are great. The SMU coaches were really nice, at least the ones I met. I really liked it.”

So, all-in-all, I am not :D worried about SMU's recruiting. The staff is doing a GREAT job!

I don't think he's serious about TCU - he was there along with 398 other prospects - JJ encourages all his recruits to take visits. Sounds risky but he does, says he wants recruits to make sure they want to play for him. He could conceivably catch 100 balls/year here, would play quickly, would catch 15 passes/year there, would be on an up and coming team, would just be trying to maintain status quo there, still no offer there, we offered him before anyone else did. He couuld switch but I doubt it.

He has already said that he is solid for SMU, after he visited TCU.
