its JUCO/Transfer time and UH has added two big middle LBs Toquavius Gilchrist and Sammy Brown (4 star and 3 stars respectively with plenty of offers) that should help them.
Tulsa has added former 4 Star(6.0 rating and National Top 100) RB Derrick Hall who originally signed with Texas A&M. Second big RB catch for Tulsa. Tulsa also added a 3 star DT named Darrell Zellars with good size and a 3 star(5.7 rating) JUCO QB Milton Howell who was tearing up the JUCO ranks before a mid-season injury. Its rumored that Tulsa had 4 other JUCOs on campus last weekend. Also Tulsa may be getting a OU transfer from former 4 star WR Jameel Owens.
Wonder if there is still time to get in on Owens he looks like the 6-3, 210 pound tall outside receiver that we apparently looking for in 2011. Offers from schools like OU and Florida out of high school. No. 1 Recruit in Oklahoma out of high school. No. 52 player in the Country.

So what do we seem to be doing in this arena?
I don't recall hearing much, if anything.

looks like Tulsa really helped themselves on mid-year signing date. In addition to the above referenced mid-year recruits they also picked up a big 6-5, 275 DE named Tyrunn Walker who had about 10 offers. Also the transfer WR from OU apparently will likely apply for immediate eligibility based on hardship. Here's an interesting thread of some of the mid-term signees our opponents in CUSA like ECU, UAB, Southern Miss and East Carolina have signed. Looks like a lot of quality JUCOs with plenty of nice offers. http://ncaabbs.com/showthread.php?tid=407580

I think one of the LBs that was supposed to sign with UH pulled a vlast minute switcheroo and signed with South Carolina instead

This really make me feel like the academic restictions on transfers/jucos has not been totally removed.
Why would we not go after anyone? Esp. B/C JJ has a track record of jucos...
Seems very wierd to me

To me the help we need is at D-tackle and maybe at the corner spot. I don't think a juco WR or OL makes us tremendously better.

JUCOs are more hit and miss than high school kids and a lot of them never qualify. Not saying these are bad prospects, but saying we would not want them, but you never know with high school kids and you really never know with JUCO kids.

Our big JUCO need is at DT... second biggest is Saftey. If nobody really good becomes available, the coaches are going to grab high end HS players who are interested instead of just taking a JUCO just for the sake of taking one.
Not getting a JUCO DT or S is possibly going to hurt next season, though.

We could use a JUCo corner too if Bell wont be able to play

Houston just got a big commitment from a 4 star DT Tongan named Tonga. Apparently he was visiting USC last week and then Arizona St. Has had some serious criminal issues and was kicked out at BYU. Because of his off field problems he apparently only has 1 year of eligibility but UH who is desperate for immediate defensive help could probably benefit from this guy. CUSA Rivals UH and Tulsa appear to have really helped themselves for 2010
