pretty amazing-Florida said thanks but no thanks to Jackson Jeffcoat because they were full-any kid with multiple offers walking around in la-la land thinking teams will wait forever to get litt' Tommy's signature on a LOI is living in fantasy land. Better jump on before the Merry-Go-Round stops

How sweet would it be to have Jeffcoat and Thompson as our starting DEs with Margus the pass rush specialist? Don't see any mention anywhere of that possibility...for the good of CUSA, hope he ends up at Houston

Another case of teams rating players on their own criteria, rather than relying on the "rankings."
For what it's worth, I've seen lists that don't even have him as the top-rated player in Texas, much less in the entire country. A great talent, to be sure, but Florida's got a roster full of guys like him.

You mean like Terrell Pryor.

Or miami to Bryce Brown last year. This type of thing happens more often than it would seem.

By the way, watched Jeffcoat versus SLC...rather unimpressed. He was eaten up by the LT pretty much the entire game

Do try that anti rivals stuff, they never said that, but UF filled up. UF doesn't greyshirt much and needed a commit. I love these people that bash the services but continue to read them. Powell was rated higher than Jeffcoat. Rivals and Scout help SMU in recruiting more than you ever could.

I was actually being sarcastic. Michigan and Ohio State saved a scholarship for Pryor. Tennessee saved a scholarship for Brown.

That is not what rivals said. The guy that committed to Florida (Ronald Powell) was rated higher than Jeffcoat you jerk. Get your facts straight.

The thread is also somewhat misleading because Jeffcoat is not rated the number 1 player in the country by rivals nor is he the number 1 player at his position.

First, I don't read the services.
Secondly, that's exactly my point — I was merely parroting the headline of this thread. Maybe I misinterpreted what Stallion mean, and if so, sorry about that. It was just that his headline suggested that rivals was calling Jeffcoat the "No. 1 Player in (the) Country"

My facts are plenty straight:
I don't read the "services." Just poking fun at a headline that suggested one of them called this kid the No. 1 player in the country.
It's called "sarcasm." Look it up.

you sure it was rivals? I see the article on ESPN and according to them he was #1 until 1/16. (Article came out 1/11).

Regarding holding the spots...It was rumored that T. Pryor was told to that Penn State was no longer looking at him when he went passed national signing day to decide. Bryce Brown had his offer revoked from Miami for playing the "game" to long. Lots of examples of teams just saying enough and moving on without.

This is what keeps those of us on the WDNWHA Committee working late this time of year.
