How do they reconcile that with their own rankings. The only CUSA teams that recruited WORSE than SMU were ECU, UTEP, UAB, Rice and Tulane.

Houston, Soutrhern Miss, Marshall, Memphis, and UCF all had least one 4 star recruit commit to them. That boosted them ahead of us. But were are ahead of all the schools that did not have 4 star kids commit to them.

I think when you take a step back and look at this class objectively, it is right up there w/ Houston and Southern Miss. We have some real game changing athletes in Fields, Johnson, Collins, Guinyard, Acker, etc. These are the type of kids we need to execute the Run and Shoot at a high level. We also were able to get a few more quality offensive linemen in Gottschalk and Duhe. If we can somehow land Cayou (DE from New Orleans) that will help ease my tension about the defensive line situation. However, I think we were able to get legit D1A prospects at every position in this class. That isn't something we could really say about previous classes.
BTW, my prediction for sleeper star of this class is Kevin Pope. I know its hard to predict how a kid from a 1A school will do when he gets to the next level, but after seeing his film I think he has real ability. He was also one of the kids our coaches offered during their one day camps in East Texas so I feel comfortable that they know what they're getting in Pope.

Two points: the article admits that they've probably underrated our talent, including Fields who should be a four star. And this is not best classes but biggest surprises.
