Scouts, Inc ranks Bordano, a three-star Rivals.com recruit, as the 38th best inside linebacker in the nation.

He had 197 tackles with 16 for-loss as a senior and was named the Herald-Zeitung’s Defensive Player of the Year. He chose SMU over Arkansas, Baylor, Kansas, Oklahoma, Rice, Stanford, Texas A&M and Texas Tech and never wavered on his decision to become a Mustang.

“There is no turning back now,” Bordano said. “I’m comfortable with my decision. It was awesome to see SMU play (in the Hawaii Bowl) and know that I’m going to be a part of something special. I can’t wait to get up there.”

When asked about how he’d like to be remembered, Bordano leaned on his uncle for inspiration.

“I want to be remembered when I’m done at SMU for the way I played,” Bordano said. “Whenever I hear people talked about my uncle, they talk about how physical he was and that is how I want to be. I want to take after that.”

if he was "solid" for SMU early on, we will never know how many might have offered. Let's hope his future play as a Mustang proves he could have played for any of the programs that may have inquired about his interest.

If he's even close to what Chris was for us, we're going to be ok at ILB for a few years.

At the signing day event on Feb. 3, June Jones mentioned that he thought Bordano could be a candidate to replace Chase Kennemer.
