Tech steals two of our targetsWe were targeting both of these guys...Williams for a long time. From today's DMN:
Derek Edwards, a (6-1, 163) receiver from Brenham High School and Kenny Williams, a (5-10, 206) running back from Pflugerville's Hendrickson High School committed to Texas Tech following the Red Raiders' junior day on Saturday. Neither recruit, both juniors in high school, has been ranked by Rivals, but Williams is on the early 2011 Rivals250 Watch List. Additionally, Williams' father is a Texas Tech graduate. Texas Tech's junior days have been very successful in the past with several players committing before even leaving Lubbock. As the days go on, more commitments usually trickle in. Commitments are nonbinding until commits sign their Letters of Intent in February of their senior years in high school. Other schools can still recruit Edwards and Williams.
Re: Tech steals two of our targetsNot really a steal unless they had already verballed (which they hadn't). Just gives us an opportunity to steal.
Re: Tech steals two of our targets
...just pissed because we've been after Williams since his sophomore year and he had always said he loved the staff here and I thought we might get him. Maybe we "steal" him after our romp in Lubbock to start next season ![]()
Re: Tech steals two of our targets
When SMU beats Tech, he'll see the light.
Re: Tech steals two of our targetsThe light that will emanate from Lubbock burning itself down.
Re: Tech steals two of our targets
Tuberville would be on top of the bonfire
Re: Tech steals two of our targetsconsidering the success Tuberville has had sending RBs to the NFL-this was not a surprise-plus he made clear in just about every interview that he was a strong Tech lean.

Re: Tech steals two of our targetsmake that 3 SMU targets as OLM Tony Morales also committed to Tech

Re: Tech steals two of our targetsI would really like to see us win a couple of these this year....We should be going head to head with Tech at some point...May take a victory this year at their place...
Re: Tech steals two of our targets
Since Tuberville was hired, yes, he became a strong Tech lean. I don't remember seeing a bias toward them before that. We're going to miss on a lot of our targets as we start competing against the big boys for talent, might as well get used to it.
Re: Tech steals two of our targetsI heard that they lock recruits in a dark shed until they commit.

Re: Tech steals two of our targetsThey lock 'em in a dark shed so they don't see Lubbock.
Re: Tech steals two of our targetsAlairic-I've read the kid had Tech memorabilia in his room since he was a kid. I also read his parents went to Tech. Some of you choose to hear only what you want to be true.

Re: Tech steals two of our targets
Good info. I just knew he had one parent who went to Tech.
