Mustangs Add Local Point Guard For 2010-11 Season

DALLAS (SMU) --- SMU Head Coach Rhonda Rompola announced that Krystal Johnson has signed a National Letter-of-Intent to play for the Mustangs beginning with the 2010-11 season. Johnson is a senior at Naaman Forest High School in Garland, Texas.
"Krystal was one of the top scorers in the Metroplex, and is a true point-guard with the quickness and vision we need," says Rompola. "The point guard spot is an important position to fill with the graduation of Jillian Samuels. We are ecstatic to have Krystal as a Mustang."
Johnson, a 5-3 point guard, was selected MVP of District 10-5A and a member of the 5A All-Region team. She averaged 17.4 points and four assists while make two 3-pointers per game for coach Derik Short.
The Mustangs just completed the 2009-10 season with a 20-11 mark. The team made the WNIT for its third consecutive trip to the postseason and 11th postseason appearance since 1983.
