Given the number of non-qualifiers the last several years, where do you think the total number of commits will be by signing day next year? Given that we're at 18 with 6 months of recruiting left, a lot can happen, even with those who have already committed. Especially since it seems that several have already come across as being less than 100% committed.

Thoughts?

How many scholarships are available for next year? We already have 18 in the class for 2011, how many more players can the staff bring in? What is the total potential size of the recruiting class?

How about 29-30 when all is said and done. We'll sign some at midterm to replace the ones who didn't qualify, were not admitted or quit or left. Then we will bring in a full 25 for the 2011 Class

As you mentioned with the academic losses and defections of this year I expect us to sign about 28 kids.

I was thinking somewhere between 28-30. Just wanted to see if that was offbase.

Thanks for the input.

I think the NCAA needs to adopt the SEC's rule limiting the number of players you can sign to NLI's to 28 (the "Nutt Rule").

I expect a full class as well, prob. signing 28, hoping to get everyone into school and greyshirt 1 to 3.

I am fairly confident we won't have these non-admittance issues going forward.

its up for a vote I think this year. But even then SMU will still have remaining spots to fill on its 25 man alotment at the coming mid-term. ie JUCOs could count back to 2010 Class. Then have 25-28 to play with on February signing date through reporting date for the 2011 Class. That's likely how this will play out.
