Must See TV. This is an excellent explanation of how the numbers work with yearly and team scholarship limits. Unfortunately, it didn't mention greyshirts. I've long been an advocate of drastic changes in these rules which have been screwing sometimes innocent student athletes for more than a decade. I think you should be limited to a set number of recruits per year+ replacements for verified injured retirements+ recruits who turn pro early. If you recruit thugs or can't graduate the players you admit or you don't recruit quality student athletes-well that's your problem isn't it-maybe they shouldn't have been admitted in the first place. This one change would go a long way to returning the student in student athlete.

I completely agree with this idea. Don't understand why it'd work any differently.

JJ talks about only really having 56 or 57 real scholarship athletes on the roster right now with 15-20 walk ons (preferred or not) playing that really conceptually couldnt get D-1 Scholarships out of HS. Thats why this next recruiting class is so key to have all kids make it in so that we could level the playing field when we play teams like A and M or TCU who are all loaded up with 85 true recruited scholarship players on the roster.
2012 will the real test of the program with recruited Seniors playing and depth behind all.

That's about the number I came up with from the SMU roster. That's why I posted on the Rivals site I expect at least 6 more signees before August 2011-we are not done.
