Will Sims be the next Cole Beasley? A smallish, but terrific athlete who played QB in high school and transfers to slot at the next level...

Only one BCS offer, but lots of offers from top teams in our conference: Baylor, Houston, Tulsa and others.

One can hope that he is as productive as Beasley has been. This is the starting WR corps for the future IMO:

Darius Johnson (SR)
Jeremy Johnson (JR)
Keenan Holman (JR)
Ronnell Sims (SO/FR?)

4 guys who can really go.

We need some bigger WRs. Not much size there on the outside.

picked up his teammate who's 6'1" and is a receiver also, but is expected to play safety for us.

It doesn't look like we've offered many big wideouts except Latimer who we lost out on.

I think Sims is more athletic than Beasley (and that is not a knock on Beasley).

By future it looks like the poster meant 2012, if Wilkerson comes back he'll be a senior in 2011.

Don't forget we have Arrius Holleman coming in, who is 6'2''

the mystery recruit-nobody seems to have video. I may have seen one play. Pretty unusual these days for video not to surface.

Ronnell Sims is the class president, most popular, funniest, smartest, kid in his class. On his team, he was the captain, leader and quarterback. He is exactly the kind of kid every D1 program wants. On the football field, he is fast, and makes great decissions. At times, he dominated despite having multiple D1 players on the field with him. He was his HS conferences POY on offense... and that is saying something considering the competition.

Having said this, it remains to be seen where he fits in at SMU. I don't see him as a D1 quarterback. At 5'9'' he's not much of a target as a receiver. We'll see. But all-in-all, a great pickup for SMU.

Sims is exactly the kind of player that could flourish in the R&S. Put him in the slot and turn him loose. It'll be interesting to see if Joseph sticks at WR or if SMU moves him to defense. He has stated in several interviews that SMU wanted him as a WR.
