Mention in Sports Illustrated

Looks like UCLA is having an awful recruiting year, especially when we are killing them in their own back yard.

UCLA's best recruiter has been in Las Cruces the last two or three years. Neuheisel shouldve kept Walker on board

Slick Rick is definitely leaving a mess for the next head coach to clean up, along with a decided lack of talent to turn things around quickly. Thank God we didn't go down the road years ago to hire him.

Texas' class is downright sick. Even with a 5-7 season and massive coaching changes, they're going to be #1 or #2 nationally when all is said and done. The RB from Cibolo, TX Malcolm Brown is considered the best RB out of Texas since Peterson.
Back off Warchild seriously.

Texas recruiting class was in the top 5 in 4 of the last 5 years. 2006-2010. What happened to them last year on the field?
When will I start feeling stimulated??

However USC is still packing them in...

Kiffin skirting recruiting sanctions as USC continues appeals process

"People questioned whether Pete Carroll was spending the proper amount of time doing evaluations during his latter time at USC," said Allen Wallace, national recruiting editor for Scout.com. "Lane said he was surprised at the lack of talent on the team [when he returned]. They didn't have enough players in the secondary. They were constantly giving up big plays."

For those reasons, Wallace agrees with the strategy to load up in the coming class, sanctions be damned.

"If you're going to go into the grave, go into the grave as healthy as possible," Wallace said. "They will have sacrificed a quicker recovery, but he's saying, OK, if we're really going to lose 30 scholarships, we're going to change the face of the team as quickly as we can."

This is almost too confusing to understand, but it appears there is a method in Kiffin's madness.

the problem is that if the sanctions aren't reduced they still face a 3 year probation-just extending it. Personally, I think its better for USC to get it past you as soon as possible-but that may not be best for the Head Coach

Randy Shannon will make a world of difference in recruiting at UCLA. He brought in tons of talent to the "U". He was not a great head coach - think PB. He could recruit like a champ, but the kids weren't getting his X's and O's. Everything I heard about him was that he was a terrific Coordinator - it just didn't translate into the HC job.
