Sunny Skies-(Except for Big 10)

20 of the Top 25 top recruiting classes are in warm weather sites-basically the South, Big 12 South and Southern California. Prominently missing are Big 10 teams-No recruiting classes ranked in the Top 10-just Ohio St (No. 11) and new member Nebraska(No. 15) in the Top 25. Others are Oregon, Notre Dame and Washington. The Big 10 has ZERO 5 star players and its highest rated recruit is No. 34 in the Country. Where are the rest of the remaining Little 10? Better load up with the MAC Lite schedule and hope nobody notices when you play those Little Sisters of the Poor in Conference

Yet, the Big X+ II will be as overrated for the next 5 years as it has been for the last 5 years.

Minnesota telling one of our kids from LA that he couldn't get in at SMU. So Minnesota has stooped so low as to A) try poaching recruits away from little ol' SMU and B) Calling the kid an idiot. Boy. You stay classy Gophers.

Ha I wonder where those rumors started about how hard SMU's recruiting standards are-SMU people spread those rumors. Really think that whole mess about SMU's recruiting standards did more harm than good. SMU does NOT have particularly high admission standards any more. Certainly nothing to cry about in relation to similiar schools-and yet somehow those complaints were leaked and went coast to coast as if we were still suffering from the Ken Pye Penalty. That's not the message that should be coming from SMU right now. In fact, in my mind what we learned during the controversy confirmed to me just how far our admission policy has come and has only served to convince me more that SMU can compete, win and excell with the exact standards we have now. SMU should be proclaiming that for the first time in 2 decades that have a competitive Model-and that is fact.

The thing with big ten recruiting is that they do not have the same kind of player pools to draw from. Ohio and Pennsylvania prodiouce a good amount of talent but it is pintence compared to texas florida and Cali where warm weather schools can pull from. However I have always thought there is some ranking inflation in scouting the kids from Cali, Tx and Fl. Not to say there aren't amazing kids from this area but I think kids on the margin get a bump from scouts saying he's from tx, he's from cali ect. Also I know of at least one recruit from the midwest who was painfuly undervalued by rivials even though he had offers from ND, Ohio state, USC, Mich, Neb. and others.
