Depends on the definition of location. He gives state and often city but I do not recall him giving specific schools. Where is the line drawn?

Not that it necessarily makes a difference, but the messages posted from him on here are from his facebook status updates. Stallion's quote is listed under the Twitter part of the article, so perhaps the rules are different for facebook.

I think this is the key part. If you are just posting stuff and some kid comes by to check out your status then that would not seem to be direct communications.

wonder how this applies to Alumni who add high school kids as friends and comment/post directly to their status/page.

I assume everyone read their edition of the compliance newsletter that came out today?

It said that a booster cannot initate or accept friend requests on facebook. Hopefully everyone is following this commonsense rule to avoid getting anyone in trouble (and to avoid being creepy of course).

Seriously, it shouldn't even be an issue of compliance. It should begin and end with the person questioning whether they should be facebook friending 17 year old kids they have literally zero connection to personally.

Answer: No. Hell no. It's creepy, knock it off.

Its sad you even had to add the answer to that question stl. Let it be known chris hansen will be after anyone who friends a minor on FB. You will be on TV. It will be embarrassing. And your life will virtually be over.

It's creepy, but you are at a competitive disadvantage if your school isn't represented. we go over this time & again at the ACC school I follow, b/c as creepy as it is, the hoops kids thrive on the love, and if your school isn't representing, understand that your competition is. I don't know many big schools that don't have a running facebook/twitter thread on their boards, made exclusively for updating the fans on what recruits & players are saying etc.

It also works both ways. For all the love a kid gets by accepting booster friends, God forbid they de-commit, cause then it's on like Donkey Kong. It's also ironic that some who won't follow recruits on twitter or friend them, add them the day they commit. It may be compliance legal at that point, but no less creepy.

NO IT IS NOT LEGAL COMPLIANCE when they commit. They are still recruitable athletes until they sign at the very least. See Yenga. That's why Coaches can not comment on players until they SIGN not COMMIT. Geez-you are not helping a single recruit make up his mind. Its stupid and its embarrassing.

Alright well I'm gonna still think it's really effin creepy...but if we need to do it to get to the top, alright. We just need a designated creepy [deleted] fan group and keep them away from the normies.

When I said commit, I meant sign. anything less is a verbal.

Also, you guys are being pretty naive w/regards to recruiting/new media and social networking. I know certain ADs that hire new media companies just to troll, fire start, show love, cover PR messes etc. Secondary violations are often seen as necessary evils at some schools
