SMU lands first 2012 commitmentRumor has it WR Robert Lewis (5-10, 160, 4.45) of Los Angeles (South East) has committed to SMU. Lewis plays running back and is a return specialist on special teams in high school. He is a member of ESPN's national top 150 and scout.com's top 250. Lewis chose SMU over an offer from Colorado and interest from several schools, including Oregon, Oregon State, Fresno State, UCLA and Washington.

Re: SMU lands first 2012 commitmentThis has to be the earliest commitment we have received in a long, long time if not forever. Were we getting this early of commitments back in the Pony Express days?

Re: SMU lands first 2012 commitmentMrydel-I thought you lived in the Olden Days-hardly anyone committed until after their Semior Season in the Olden Days. Two signing dates too-SWC Signing Date and National Signing Date-a week later
Here's his Junior Year stats-I just see his Sophomore stats in his profile. Looks like he had about 1300 yards rushing and receiving but also played defense and special teams. I'm a little surprised his rushing/receiving stats aren't bigger based on the big number of big plays he makes in his video. But in 5 games he barely got the ball-injury or Coach that doesn't know who his best player is? Sounds like they've never had this quality of player based on Coaches comments so maybe its not a traditionally strong program. Rivals250 Watch list. Looks like a perfect fit for the Inside Receiver spot. With Darius, Jeremy Johnson and Sims looks like we are finally getting the right athletes to excell in the Run and Shoot-now we need some Outside Receiver kids-which are always a little harder to find http://www.maxpreps.com/athletes/b5OUJN ... -lewis.htm Running in a Freshman/Sophomore Division last spring he was No. 1 in his league in the 100 Meters and No. 2 in the 200 Meters, No. 1 in the 110 Meter Hurdles and No. 1 (anchor) in the 4 by 400 Relay. Times aren't what I'd call "Texas fast" but again he hasn't even competed as a Junior yet in High School. Looks plenty fast in his highlites http://www.athletic.net/trackandfield/M ... 1807#19723 "With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris
When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.
Re: SMU lands first 2012 commitmentThank you, Stallion. I appreciate your diligent research.
Re: SMU lands first 2012 commitmentNear 8 yards per carry and over 14 per catch - not bad for a Junior!

Living back in the olden days is why I cannot remember everything. Actually I was questioning the post death penalty days but could not remember my good old days. All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
