1. Baylor-69 Offers 60 Texans 9 Others= 1 Commitment
2. A&M-62 Offers 47 Texans 15 Others = 17 Commitments
3. Tech-61 Offers 42 Texans 19 Others= 1 Commitment
4. TCU-37 Offers 29 Texans 8 Others = 7 Commitments
5. Houston-34 Offers 32 Texans 2 Others= 2 Commitments
6. Texas-32 Offers 24 Texans 8 Others= 13 Commitments
7. SMU -25 Offers 9 TEXANS 16 Others= 1 Commitment
8. Rice 7 Offers 7 Texans 0 Others= No Commitment

This program has been in place for 4 years, watched thousands of videos of Texas players and had camps every year and only knows 9 Texans that it wants to offer early? Only 3 Offers to kids in our backyard of DFW where Baylor has offered 22 and even conservative TCU 14. About 35% of the Texas Top 100 have committed

let's see how these Cali and La kids ultimately pan out before we worry about what percentage of our guys come from Texas

would be nice to get back to the level of talent we had in the Pony Express days so maybe kids from all over the country will be interested in SMU

Can you break it down to those with blonde hair and those without? An irrelevant analysis.

I am somewhat surprised we have only 25 offers out there.

time to step it up - that is a bit strange. This class is VERY important for growth to the next level.

We definitely need to focus on TX where we're known as a bottom 5 football program and lessen attention on CA and Louisiana where we've had some really good success. We've won recruiting battles head to head against the likes of Oregon & USC. You think we're going to win ANY in state battles against Texas or Oklahoma?

Any idea what the number of offers for Texas players was last year?

Didn't we end up with 17 out of 26 from Texas in the most recent class?

This idea that we have to get Texas players, or we have to get Dallas players, is as ludicrous as is it old and tired ... and inaccurate. Why should we get Texas players? To bring out throngs of fans? You're right - that worked beautifully in basketball with the Sasser/Davis/Ross crowd. Pick a state: Delaware, South Dakota, Rhode Island, Alaska - go get an entire class from that state, and if the team starts winning 10 or 11 or 12 games a year, the fans will take notice and show up. Coach Bennett focused on getting kids from DFW, and from the 300-mile radius - how did that work out?

Peruna 2K5 wrote:I am somewhat surprised we have only 25 offers out there.

25 REPORTED offers. We have no way of knowing how many offers are actually out. Plus, the ratio of offers to Texas kids vs. offers to non-Texans might change significantly by February, when this stuff actually matters.

EXACTLY. Right on, Alaric. Who should we throw back to get another Texan or two? Dontae Levingston? Conner Preston? Davon Moreland?

It's true that the class can't be assessed until we see how the players - from California, Louisiana and Texas - pan out. Of course, that need to wait a couple of years before assessing a class applies every year.

So its ludicrous? In fact, there has never been a nationally competitive Texas Football team that wasn't predominently built by Texas recruits. I invite anyone to attempt to prove that statement wrong. 100% of those programs disagree with you. Yes we definitely need Texas recruits-in fact its ludicrous to suggest otherwise. I think we presently have 1 offer out to currently uncommitted Texas Top 100 recruit. Seriously? I know Klemm is doing a good job in California. What about the other 8 Coaches?

Wouldn't SMU be waiting for their Junior Day to make a large batch of offers to Texas recruits? I figure that SMU is having a Junior Day during Spring Practice and the offers will occur then. All that seems to be happening now is that SMU is having their Spring Practice later than many other schools, so the Junior Day attached to Spring Practice is later.

If I'm not mistaken, a lot of offers to Texas recruits go out during SMU's Junior Day. Also, SMU's coaches do that 4- or 5-day in a row traveling camp around the state of Texas during the summer and seem to make a number of offers then.
