I know its early and all that. But it is nice to see SMU in the running for a couple of top 100 players.

3 if you count Payton.

Also four 4-star WRs and at least 10 4-star players overall...

When was the last time we were in the race for these many top recruits this early in the year? Stallion may be able to add some more accurate perspective but if seems decades since we were competitive in this level of recruiting.

if you look at last year's list we offered just as many 4-5 Rivals stars early-they just weren't all in California. If you go by Scout and I don't because they don't accurately record all offers then we've offered 7 four stars in 2012. Scout though doesn't list a lot of those offers in 2011 that were actually made to the Jesse Williams, Trai Turners, Kenny Williams, Dereck Edwards, Josh Cochran, Spencer Drango, Greg Robinson, Tony Morales, Chet Moss, Mickey Johnson et al that Rivals documented. I don't know maybe they drop from the Scout system once they get a certain number of offers but we talked about all these guys getting offers last spring. Rivals of course has only released a limited number of stars so far so you can't compare yet to Rivals

Wonder why the 4 Star WR from Crockett, Texas, who lists OU than SMU right behind them as his favorites yet he doesn't have an SMU offer ?

Name, link?

EDIT:

I see what you're talking about. I don't think that is necessarily a good indicator of his interest. None of the services covering SMU have mentioned him, and from what little I just read he appears to be a slight TCU lean with interest from every school out there.

I know for sure he has had his UT offer yanked and I think the A&M one as well but not entirely sure.

yes I hear he made quite an "impression" at both UT and A&M Junior Days.
