SMU lands third commitmentWord is that Prescott Line, the younger brother of SMU running back Zach Line, committed Monday to join his brother in the Mustangs' backfield. Like Zach, Prescott plays running back and linebacker in high school, but expects to play running back at SMU.

Re: SMU lands third commitmentI like it!
![]() SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
Re: SMU lands third commitmentReally happy about this one, but I was guessing Prescott was going to play LB. I guess we will see.
PONY UP!
Re: SMU lands third commitmentWatch his highlights. He is everywhere. You have to factor in the level of competition but the kid is a lightning rod and brings the wood. I wouldn't expect anything less from someone from the same bloodlines as Zach.
Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: SMU lands third commitmentI don't have a rivals account anymore so I can't see the video, but a 4.9sec time in the 40 is pretty awful for a RB or even LB. Hopefully that is a typo. Either way, glad to have him onboard.

Re: SMU lands third commitmentfiji,
Its pretty evident from his video that he is quicker than a 4.9. He's not a 4.4 or 4.5 guy or anything like that but he has very good lateral quickness and a nose for the football. We were the only school to offer Zach also and look how that turned out. I'm willing to take a chance with this kid even if he isn't going to wow you with his measureables. Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: SMU lands third commitmentAs I recall, Zach Line didn't exactly blow up a stopwatch, either. What I know is that he plays faster than he tests, and he's as tough and talented as any player I can remember. If this kid's last name is Line, I'll take him, without even looking at his height, weight, 40-yard dash time or bench press numbers. If they have a sister or a family dog, sign them, too.
Zach Line doesn't seem like a star player because of otherworldly physical gifts. He's the best running back in Conference USA because of a team-first attitude that allows him to block and cover kicks, a punishing running style that speaks volumes about his work ethic and a toughness that I can only assume was taught to him by his family and coaches before he got to SMU. If those things are true, and if Prescott Line had the same upbringing as his brother, bring him on. Welcome to SMU, Prescott!
Re: SMU lands third commitmentThis is great news!!!!! Welcome to the hilltop!!!
KICK 'EM MUSTANGS!!!!!!!!!
Re: SMU lands third commitmentI'm glad he committed to SMU and hope he has a career like his brother's. But as a matter of curiosity, what other schools were interested in him, or in Zach fo rthat matter?
Re: SMU lands third commitmentSo this is going to be our only RB recruit this year--no offers, no speed and no size? Why did we have to pull the trigger so soon? Great family, but this kid is not a recruit, there are at least 25 better RB in Texas this year and he is too small to be a LB.
Re: SMU lands third commitment
Pump the brakes. We have Robert Lewis coming in, who although might pay some receiver, is a RB recruit. Snuffers cheese fries

Re: SMU lands third commitment
Most schools thought his brother couldn't play, either — you want to send him back? (Lewis was recruited to play slot WR, not RB.) The trigger was pulled because he is an exceptionally productive high school player, and his brother gives at least an indication that he might not be done growing. I'll gladly take a bunch of players from the Line family. Maybe he'll be as good as Zach, and maybe he won't, but you can you can bet the rent on his work ethic and toughness. That's a pretty good place to start. SMU! SMU! SMU!
