Prospects Down the Line

TATA THOMPSON: RB/LB from Garland. Although he has a funny first name, the kid will be a junior, and is 6-3, 2something. Built like Dickerson, and when the Owls needed a yard, he'd get them 5. Cavan and the staff should start early, if they can with this kid.

JAMES BATTLE: QB from Denton Ryan.
This kid will be a junior too, but he's nimble, has a nice arm, and is cool as a cucumber in the pocket. A nice pickup

AARON HARRIS: LB from North Mesquite
The kid looked like LT against Plano East in the playoffs, and he's all over the field.

JUSTIN BLAYLOCK: OL from Plano East
Big kid, could maybe be nastier, but solid.

What are the needs for 2002? With the coaches all saying that recruiting begins on signing day of the previous year, what does everyone think?

My thoughts are for 20 ships:

Always big guys - OL - 3 or 4 guys, DL - again as many as you can get say 2-3, LB - a couple of guys, DB - if you can get a couple of big safeties that are not converted to LB. RB - Big need see if we can get a star as Briggs will be a senior, TE - Hampton's replacement, WR - probably the least needed position and QB - depending on this year's group 1 or 2.

Boston Pony,

I have got to say you are on track except for one thing. I am sure BUS will agree with me on this, we need no less than 4 linemen on each side of the ball. I repeat, NO LESS THAN 4 on each side of the ball.

Next year we need 3 to four o-line and 4 or five - D-Tackles

This team has always had d-ends. We have to get 8 ( eight ) d-tackles for practice and then had four to rotate in for game day. Have another four grooming.

Go Mustangs.

Let us all hope that SMU comes out pumped up for the first quarter next year.
