I thought it would be interesting to take a look at where we stood this time last year regarding recruiting and compare it to where we are now. Last year we had 12 kids commit to SMU midway through July. Of those twelve, nine endeberate being rated 3* recruits by Rivals, one was a 4* and the other two were 2* recruits.
This year, we now have 11 verbals. Six of those are 3* recruits and one is a 4*. It is reasonable to assume that some of the unrated players also will be rated as 3* recruits when they are rated. The difference this year is that we have kids who are committed to USC who are calling Klemm and asking to come visit. Additionally, this year's highest rated recruit is more highly regarded than Moreland was last year.
There is a lot of positive momentum right now and this is shaping up to be an outstanding class.

Is there any update on Moreland, is there any hope for him being able to join the team this year?

Supposedly he is not enrolling at JC or even investigating this route. He is working on either a grade or test scores (I don't remember which one) and plans on being admitted in January. Supposedly he is very confident that he will be admitted in January.

Who are the 6 3* Rivals recruits that you are counting?
Right now I just count 4: Lewis, LaGasse, Pettway and Neroes. Line is a 2*, Marks is a 4* and that leaves 5 currently unranked.

(1) I thought Stewart had already been rated 3*. Based on what I have read about him on ESPN, he will be rated 3* when its all said and done.
(2) I miscounted. Even counting Stewart we are only at 5. I think I counted Pettway twice.

According to the 3 amigos, SMU's recruiting rating should be 0.0 because there are too many non-Texas kids committed.

Today's commit was bigger than just being a Texas recruit...
Excited about the past couple of days and hope the trend continues.

Maybe a step of peace in an area that needs to be more cohesive, less ego, and work harder...

I was told that Moreland is just retaking a test this fall and is not going to JR. College. Expect him in Dallas next semester. Also, Moreland had an offer to USC.
