Per Scout (free twitter material) SMU is currently Deiter's #1 school. Great news, hopefully we can get him on campus to lock his commitment down.

Was just about to post this. The article is up on scout as well, but it's not free content.

SMU leads for Dieter

Gehrig Dieter
By Mike Coppage
South Recruiting
Date: Oct 3, 2011

Gehrig Dieter, the prolific pass-catcher from South Bend (Ind.) Washington, rewrote the nation's receiving record books earlier this year with a 447-yard effort in one game, and Scout.com spoke with the sure-handed senior about his recruitment. Dieter lists a current top two with the red-hot SMU Mustangs at No. 1. Read further to get more details.

Coxmustangfan - I like his stats, but with no BCS offers, well there must be a reason

The issue is size and speed but he is a player. Nearly the entire MAC has offered him and SMU. You don't get that many offers unless you are a player I don't care if they are non-AQ offers or not.

The issue might be speed, but for sure not size at 6'3". The level of competition he plays against appears to be terrible. However, he did perform well at all the camps over the summer.

Thanks for the update Mike, keep 'em coming.

I'd love to get this kid. We recruit a lot of receivers that would be forced to play in the slot due to their size, and although we need them, it's harder for us to recruit big, tall WR's' that can play on the outside. So I'm always happy to see when we go after big WR's. Holleman was a good get last year, and Gehrig would be a nice recruit this year. He may not be the fastest WR out there, but he's got size, and no one can argue with the production. Go get him coach Reinbold

Sounds like defensive end to me...not a typical jj wr.

I read it was down to Oregon/SMU...which would suggest he had an offer from Oregon.

He has been campaigning for an Oregon and an Auburn offer the last 6 months. If he gets either he is for sure gone. We would not be #1 if he had the offer. From reading and listening to his interviews it almost seems like he would just right away at any BCS offer.

So this post should not be in this thread about another recruit. And it's coach Reinebold.
