Could be a huge start to recruiting
Posted: Sun Mar 24, 2002 6:05 pmCoach Bennett and his staff had somewhere between 150 and 200 area high school coaches out at practice Friday and Saturday as part of a coaching clinic. When Coach Bennett was hired, he talked about his ties to area coaches, and how he was going to make every effort to improve and increase those relationships. All it takes is a couple of guys forming friendships with Coach Bennett and/or his assistants, and those HS coaches start encouraging their kids to consider SMU a little more seriously. One or two blue-chips head our way, and who knows what happens next?
Also, I saw a note on the other board that Rivals Recruiting is having some sort of workship in Dallas next month, and that a lot of the top players in the area are being encouraged to attend. Anyone know who some of those stud players are?
One last question: can someone explain to me the origin of the label "blue chip?" Thanks
