ANOTHER Thornton?

We all know about Kalen Thornton, the DE from Dallas St. Mark's who went to Texas, became a freshman All-America and is part of that great defense down in Austin. And his brother Kyle is a senior-to-be this fall and being recruited heavily (although it's a little surprising to hear that UT isn't really interested in offering him a scholarship.)

Now it appears that former Cowboys OL Bruce Thornton has a third son with a bright football future. Kenton will be a junior this fall, and is moving from RB to WR. At 6-4, 195, he already has great size. He also runs a 4.5 in the 40, and is the best basketball player (and overall athlete) in the school. We need to get both of the younger Thorntons.

That kind of size/speed brings to mind images of Robert Timmons, the Flower Mound Marcus WR who committed to Florida and then signed with Texas. If he's half as talented as his brothers, he'll be on every coach's wish list.

OK, you're the defensive coordinator and/or secondary coach of another team (on our 2003 schedule).

You see 6-4, 205-pound (by then) Kenton Thornton lined up wide on one side, 6-5, 195-pound (by then) Jay Taylor on the other. Then you see 6-3, 200-pound James Elliott in the slot, and 6-6, 275-pound Darrin Johnson at tight end.

Think you might consider a career change rather than having to deal with those kids? Damn, I'd love to be a QB throwing to those horses. Those are some huge targets.
