Just because a visit was set does not mean the recruit is "dropping". We have a number of recruits that will be taking visits to other programs.

Recruit Dropping

Postby Dooby » Tue Nov 01, 2011 7:23 am

This is why I don't follow recruiting. I don't want to concern myself with the decision-making process of a hormone raging teenager. I understand that recruiting is the lifeblood of college athletics, I just don't follow it day to day. Let me know on signing day.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I have a Rivals subscription, and it's nice to have it. But even I don't look at it every day. I saw yesterday the front page story about some OL from a prep school was offered. People really get jazzed for that kind of thing? OK....

What I also find funny is that some of the comments you read on a kid or see a video, everybody becomes an expert and thinks he knows what kid does this well or doesn't do well. That's a little ridiculous.

But credit those services for identifying a market and exploiting it.

I do not see the value in pay sites. Perhaps you get news 12 hours faster about it.

The interviews are all the same Joeseph really liked the coaches and school bla bla

The issue right now, particularly with Rivals, is that they are posting highly sensationalized topic threads on the main page. I understand that they are doing this to drive their membership numbers, but nothing is as sensational as they make it out to be on the front page.

I honestly wish they would quit doing this because some people only read the headlines and won't sign up. If you only do that, it is reasonable to assume that our recruits are all jumping ship and the Big East has told us either: (1) they are folding as a conference; or (2) the conference told us to F ourselves after two losses. Neither of these are the case.

Finally, I will take this opportunity to get on my soap box. People boast that SMU and its alums have so much money that if we were invited into an AQ conference people would immediately throw money at the school for the necessary facility improvements. Where is the proof of this because from what I have seen on this board it simply is not the case. In fact this is what I have learned from this board: (1) people will pledge money for billboards and videos and fall off the face of the earth when its time to actually pay; (2) fans would rather beg for information from those willing to subscribe to the pay sites instead of shelling out $9.95 per month to access that information themselves; and (3) people will [deleted] and complain about attendance and then come here hat in hand begging for free tickets rather than going to the ticket office and buy a freaking ticket. Better yet, buy two and bring a friend.

Quit begging and complaining and support your freaking team--players, coaches, and administration--yes, the whole team.

I'm done now. You can all move on with your day.

Pay sites are a huge part of recruiting...what 18 year old kid doesnt want to be interviewed and have his asz kissed...

Just another way to help recruiting and pick up some good info...

As to statement above...message board raised 5k for commercial that was supposed to cost 5k...so not to bad an effort...

Pretty much sums it up, recruits like being interviewed about recruiting and it helps that we have journalists asking specifically about SMU

My statement is reflective of my selfishness the sites do nothing for me for the money. And if u of t had no rivals site it wouldn't make a damn bit of difference.

5k is 5k Nick

Now somebody give me some free food, beer, tickets and a bus ride over to to the stadium
