In the state top 100 there are no QBs, RBs and only 1 WR (Limas Sweed #14) in the top 15??? In the top 25 only 6 offensive players???

Are the linemen and defensive players that good, or the offensive players in this year's class just not as strong as normal?

I assume the DMN selects the state 100 and area 100. The online edition seems to indicate this. What is their selection criteria?

Actually, Rivals.com's Bobby Burton selects all three lists. He's very in-touch with recruiting, but remember that he's based in Austin, and gets lots of information through coaches who want to send their players to Texas.

And yes, this year's class of linemen is sensational. Jorrie Adams, Ofa Mohetau, Jarvis Moss and Xavier Lawson-Kennedy (Moss's cousin) are cornerstone players who would be at or near the top in any recruiting class.

From that list of guys, here's who I want to see at SMU, other than the guys who already are committed to play for the Ponies:

James Battle. I've seen him play, and he's unbelievable. He's got a strong arm, and he's unbelievably fast. And he's a warrior - hope everyone read the story in the Morning News recently about his family situation. This is one tough kid, and I bet he'd like to be near his home.

Kharylake Martin. We could use a guy his size to just shove the defensive line straight back, no matter what kind of scheme they run. You can't teach size like that, and he's only going to get stronger as he matures.

Cedric Cofer. I've also seen him play. What a load this guy is. He's not as big as Martin, but when he gets himself planted, he's not going anywhere. Whichever side of the ball he plays on, he'll be a stud in college. Maybe his injury will scare off some of the other schools?

Allen Pollard. Imagine running him and Darrin Johnson out there in a 2-TE set on short yardage. Touchdown every time.

Chris Ross. He's a little skinny, but he can really run and has great hands. He's a year away, but he's a good-looking player.

Chase Ellis. I've never seen him play and I don't know anything about him. But if he's being recruited by Miami and OU, he's got to be a hell of an athlete.

Add Tommy Devereaux to that list, and at least 1 of the linemen at HP, and the Hillcrest QB (Bryan Clampitt - and he's out for the season), and a couple of JUCOs, and we've got ourselves one terrific class!
