Rhett Bomar, Class of '04

Do we have a snowball's chance on this guy? I know he has been to the UT football camp and Mack Daddy really likes him. However, OU is hot on his trail but maybe as a DB (?) This guy is the real deal at QB. He and his daddy might be a package deal, though. Boy, landing him at SMU would be a major coup. I think this is a job for our best recruiter... Go Phil!

Gotta read the high school pages........
Quarterback, terrific passer, very impressive runner, good field general. 6'4" about 210. Junior.
Grand Prairie Gophers.
OU thinks he has the speed and toughness to be a DB for them. I think Texas likes him as a QB. I think he'd be crazy not to play QB in college. He's got IT. Wish we could keep him in the county.

Sounds impressive! Hire his dad as an assistant coach. Hire his mom as an assistant coach. Whatever - he sounds like a perfect Pony!

Dont forget about Graham Harrell of Ennis. Both of these 2 QB's are going to be good college QB's. Both are sons of coaches.

Ricky Joe Meeks is the son of a coach, and he's a stud. But I thought Harrell is supposed to be a little guy whose skills and instincts make up for a lack of actual physical gifts (big arm, great speed, etc.) Bomar sounds like the choice for next year's QB signing.

Casey- I saw Harrell play several times this year. He is clearly better than Foran of HP and Battle of Denton Ryan. He is 6-2, 185.
Good runner and great passer. Next year, he will be the starter for the 3rd staight year. Ennis should have beaten Ryan in this years playoffs and it is possible that with a little luck, he could have been the QB for a 3 time state champion. I predict that he will be 6-3, 195 when he plays next year. I will be happy if we get either Bomar or Harrell.

Sounds like both of them can really play. Does anyone know if either of them has any early interest in SMU?

Harrell's dad, the Ennis coach, played at SMU, I think.
