DTs

I read on the Insiders.com site that Cedric Cofer doesn't have an offer from SMU - yet. Or maybe that's just old information? Does anyone know of an offer to Cofer?

The site also said Jared Naylor is not listing SMU among his schools of choice.

Does this mean Ben Mitchell is higher on our priority list now?

There's a new name going around as a possible DT for SMU .... maybe if Cofer and the Oklahoma guys fall through?

Curt Jones
Ht: 6-2 Wt: 255 40: 4.9
HS Position: DE
Recruited as: DT
Date of Birth: 12/26/1984
Sinton (Texas) HS

Jones returns at defensive end for Sinton head coach Brent Davis in 2002, although he's more likely to be moved inside on the next level. Very quick and active on the outside, Davis recorded 130 tackles in 2001.

No stats were available for 2002, on the site I saw. I'll keep looking.

Does anyone have a profile or scouting report on Mitchell?

I like that size, and for a guy that big, 4.9 is pretty quick. I think we should sign that guy based on raw numbers alone. With good coaching, you'd have to think Mitchell could be pretty darn productive.

Nowata is an Oklahoma Class 2A school, same as Millwood which produced touted LB prospect Cory Muse who has committed to SMU.

I've been lobbying for a 300 lb bruiser to take Croy's place, but if there's another 255 lb guy with the tenacity Adami displayed this year, let's line him up next to #14.

I'll take a defensive line with 4 Allan Adamis and go to war against anyone. That young man has as much heart and inner fire as anyone on the team.
