Insiders reports 3 DTs still have interest in SMU:
Cedric Cofer

6'4" / 301 / 5.0
#72 DT in the nation
Colorado, Miami (Fl), Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, SMU, TCU, Texas
Zac Robinson
Tulsa (Metro Christian Academy), Oklahoma 6'5" / 250 / 5.1
Oklahoma, Arkansas, Oklahoma State, SMU, Tulsa
Curt Jones
Sinton, TX
6'2" / 255 / 4.9
Texas, Baylor, Rice, SMU, TCU
They also list this guy, but he's committed to UCLA:
Chadd Evans
Tulsa (Washington HS), Oklahoma
6'3" / 250 / 4.9
Committed to UCLA
Any others out there that aren't on this list?

....those reports on Insiders are pretty old. I think Evans is pretty well down to UCLA(who he committed to before coaching change) and Tennessee who he visits this weekend. SMU is a darhorse-get it?-in this one. This is based on a report yesterday on Rivals. The editor of Big 12 Recruiting has promised me an update on Cofer once he returns from the HS All American Game. He couldn't recall his notes about a recent conversation with Cofer last week but thought Cofer was visiting a couple of mid-majors and also Arizona.

After the mutiny at Zona this year, why would ANY player want to go play for Mackovic?

Stallion, would you agree that DT is our biggest remaining priority for this class? I think it's a no-brainer. We need 2, at least, in my opinion.

yeah but I doubt if we are going to get a great one. Really Warrie Birdwell, Lute Croy and Marcus Walker are just about the only real DTs we've successfully recruited. Otherwise, in the vast majority of cases have taken tall DE and LBs and put them on a weight program until they are big enough to play DT. This is not uncommon since talented DTs are perhaps the most difficult position to recruit. Its one of those factors that separate the "haves" from the "have nots".

When he signed last year, Martin Guidry was supposed to be able to play DT as well as OL. Any talk of switching him to defense? The lack of size, after Croy's graduation, is a little scary. Allan Adami is a warrior, but he needs someone beside him to clog the middle and occupy blockers.
