What ever became of this guy, the big fast WR from Denton Ryan? On paper, he sounds too good to be true. But he doesn't show up on top 100 lists anywhere. What gives?

I don't think he even shows up in the Rivals or Insiders Databases either. I know his teammate Phillip Jones is the guy that everybody wants and he's going to Oklahoma St. I know this kid is tall but does he really have the speed to play Division 1?

I've read everywhere from 4.35-4.55 .... which I assume means he runs a 4.6 or 4.7. But he's supposed to have great hands, and he's a house: 6'5", 220. Maybe a TE candidate?

Question for Recruiting Guru, Stallion, Corso, JasonB, Mickey, etc.: what do you know about Carter TE Paschal Smith? I read here that he's a stud and he's coming to SMU. That was months ago - haven't heard his name since.

If he's a step slow to play WR, he still sounds quick for a TE.
Can he walk on?

Dowdy has WR hands and WR body (even though he is tall) but he has TE speed. He is too slow for WR and not big enough for TE.

Haven't seen Smith play, but I don't think he has the necessary speed. Should be a lot bigger for a TE unless he is really quick (which he isn't). He is your quintessential player that the coaches like to say "he is small but slow."

There has to more to this story. Looks like the big trend in pro football is to put a TE outside on a small DB.

Look what the Giants are doing with Jeremy Shockey. Granted, he's a rare talent, but he causes major headaches for defenses when you get him lined up on a corner, who has no way to separate Shockey from the ball.

Could Dowdy be an effective linebacker? If he runs a 4.6, and with his size, maybe he could be an effective pass rusher?
Just a thought.

Are we even interested in Dowdy?
Maybe as a walk-on candidate?
