Top choice for class of 2004

I've seen a kid play who the coaches need to be after. Starting Now!

Kenton Thornton is a safety/WR at St. Mark's in Dallas. For those who suggest private school kids can't play college ball, consider that his brother Kalen has started at defensive end at Texas since the day he arrived as a freshman, and his other brother Kyle is close to accepting an offer to play at .... national champion Ohio State.

Kenton is something of a freak. 6-foot-4, 215 pounds and he runs an electronic 4.4. He led the team in receptions, interceptions and touchdowns and caused many teams to avoid throwing the ball anywhere near him.

Coaches from top-25 teams have been all over this guy, and he'll be a hard sell (in addition to his brothers, his father - former Cowboys OL Bruce Thornton played at Illinois). But what a difference maker he is. If you get a chance, stop by a St. Mark's basketball game and watch this kid dominate. He's the fastest guy on the floor, he gets WAY over the rim and he's strong enough to crash the boards (at least when his 300-plus pound brother isn't in the lane).

He will be a top recruit on everyone's list next year.

I have a reporter friend who interviewed Kyle earlier this year.

He gave me almost the exact same scouting report... That we needed to look into signing Kyle as a Mustang, but that baby brother was coming along in the shadow of his high profile brothers and was going to be phenominal... the best of the three.

Coach B: If you're out there, please start on this kid right after you finish up the '03 class.

A dominating, tall, fast receiver is something we haven't had the luxury of since I don't know when.

We're already after him. As is every other school in the country.
