Guess JJ struck out with his 'jucos' or else didn't feel we needed any experienced linemen.

GO PONIES!!!

I don't mind going 3 or 4. But I wouldn't go 9. To me that's a huge gamble because JUCOs are so risky anyway. Plus, I think you're mortgaging the future of the program with classes with that kind of percentage.

For Tech's sake, I hope it's a one-time thing and not something common.

I know it's worked well for Kansas State but I don't subscribe to that. Minnesota signed five yesterday and that made me feel uneasy.

SMU went after at least 4 good ones hard in the Offensive Line but apparently struck out-now turning attention to high school linemen it appears

Not great news - I would like to see a few Juco's every year regardless of position. I still think administration will not accept a lot of the Juco classes where schools like Tech do.

Not much mention in the media of the new requirement of a 2.5 GPA in JUCO to qualify. That surprises me. Not fully clear on the transfer hours deal-a lot of schools will not accept correspondence classes-I'm fine with that. But one thing is obvious. Most of the JUCOs SMU has signed under June Jones were non-qualifiers out of high school so again we aren't talking high standards. I can't say that I detect SMU's standards with regard to JUCOs are in any way unreasonable since we waited on several that couldn't even get a 2.0 GPA in Juco and failed to qualify at any Division 1A school. Examples-Maurice Hood, the 4 Star DB that Tech rejected(Ryan Clark), and the DE from Mississippi 2 years. That's 3 examples-there are more. We waited on kids that couldn't get in ANYWHERE

...I mean academically-they either flunked JUCO or couldn't maintain a 2.0 GPA in JUCO to qualify

Right. Why go for guys that have the gpa (and this more competition for their services) when you can just troll the low gpa guys and hope you land one

for accuracy there are 9 newcomers which include 7 JUCOs and 2 mid-term enrollees
