Bennett's the man...

My my my. How the world turns. I remember all the bellyaching about the hiring of Bennett and I told you he would be a good addition for SMU. Few believed me. Tsk tsk tsk. Maybe you should listen to your Horned Frog friends every once in awhile.

BTW--while I'm thrilled for SMU--nothing could be better than to get the TCU/SMU game back to where it once was--I still don't see us going head to head on a lot of recruits. Not talking about level here, more probably needs. I think we've had one guy we really set our sites on who decided to stay close to home and commited to Baylor.

Good luck the rest of the way.

I'll agree...you were rightn about Bennet. Of course, I agreed with you the whole time.
I also agree; I don't think there is a good comparison for how we are both doing recruiting-wise...

Let's not sing his praises until he produces some winning seasons. That's not to say that I don't support Bennett. I think he's the guy...let's just not pat ourselves on the back yet...I don't want to jinx this thing Image

....TCU has one recruit that is significantly more highly recruited than SMU best recruit so far and that is James Battle, otherwise there is negligible difference between SMU and TCU class right now. All you boys on the Frog Forum saying otherwise are blowing smoke.

Just checked your list on OCSN and your class is indeed a good one. Had you been over to the FFF about a month ago, there were several posts regarding the quality of your recruiting class and how it rivaled ours (although we've added some pretty good players since--Will Oliver for example). The "negative recruiting" junk just popped up last week. The best part is that we must be close to shutting out Arkansas in Texas this year (either that or they hired a couple o'hundred temps as coaches to contact every potential recruit in the state).

Like I said above and was born out in my search, we weren't after a lot of the same guys and it looks like we'll both end up with what we wanted when it's all said and done. I do think this--both Patterson and Bennett are excellent evaluators of talent so I wouldn't worry about the outcome or let anyone rag you about your class, just as I don't let anyone rag us about ours. The results will speak for themselves. I fully expect SMU to be giving us great games and contending for the WAC championship within two or three years.

Nothing would be better than having four conference champs in the same state--WAC, CUSA, Big12, and SunBelt. Texas would again be the King of College Football.
