Courtney Gordon (6'3", 230, 4.8) is the ultimate recruiting "sleeper."

He plays at Gladewater (Texas) HS, a small school (2A, I think - maybe even 1A) in East Texas. He plays OT, OG, DE and OLB. He started this year at Guard and Defensive End, but filled in at the other spots on occasion. He's an extremely smart, physical player with exceptional strength for a guy his size. He's also a versatile athlete, having earned all-district honors in basketball and track, where he was a regional qualifier in the shotput.

On the football field (he was district lineman of the year last year, and all-district 3 years in a row -- second-team in 10th grade), he is his team's best player and drew double-coverage on nearly every play. One of the defensive coaches said "Courtney is the finest, strongest and fastest defensive player I have ever coached."

Gordon is the ultimate small-school "who is that guy?" kind of player who just might emerge as a real star. He's still very lanky and could add significan weight, or he could stay at about the same size and improve his strength and conditioning and be a very effective college linebacker.

I like that report. Let's get him in as a LB, especially if Darius Ingram sticks with his commitment to LSU and if we lose out on Avery Cleveland.
