Remaining TargetsWith the addition of Pellerin to the WR corps here is where I think the staff will go with the last three/four scholarships.
1. Kharylake Martin-heavy SMU lean and should commit to us after the UCF visit 2. Joel Armstrong- I really want this kid and my source tells me he loved his SMU visit. Would hate to lose this kid to Rice. 3. Darius Ingram- Hoping upon hope this kid signs with us and decommits from LSU. His addition would help lessen the blow of losing Newman. 4. Any of the following of Fontenot, Rashad Turner, Allen Pollard, J.B. Phillips, and Ronald Simmons. You might throw Galbreath the WR from Westfield in that mix as well. Kurt Basically, I'm a badass.
Re: Remaining TargetsHey I well as you all I know I live in Longview and I know a lot that go to Longview well a lot of those people have been tellin me that he really loved SMU but he is serouisly thinking about Rice more than SMU! I really hope its true but I doubt it is because they go to school with him everyday while the guys at SMU have only met him once! this really ruined my day!

Re: Remaining TargetsI'll take Wilrey Fontenot, Ronald Simmons and the new mystery man, Courtney Gordon - as a LB, I guess.
HOORAY, BEER!
Re: Remaining TargetsAre Ronald Simmons and Rashad Turner even considering SMU? Also, does anyone know anything about the running back from fort worth named turner? He is a four star on rivals. Did SMU go after him? Thanks for anyone that knows....
Re: Remaining TargetsStallion (I think) reported that Rashard Turner and Simmons are considering SMU. There are whispers of academic questions for one or both. Not sure - I don't remember.
And is the kid from Fort Worth the one who just committed to Nebraska? Or was that another Turner kid, from Terrell? HOORAY, BEER!
Re: Remaining TargetsI was referring to Michael Turner from Fort Worth Dunbar. He is a four star on rivals. I have not heard much about him on this board or anywhere else for that matter. Just curious for anyone that knows....thanks.
Re: Remaining TargetsThe latest edition of Lone Star Recruiting's Top 100 lists SMU as in contention for Ronald Simmons and Rashard Turner. Those are the first and only source I have for their interest in SMU. To clarify, Simmons is a good academic student-3.5-but will not take his SAT/ACT test until Jan 25 so he CAN NOT even visit as school until he gets a score. He's going to be a post-signing day recruit but I bet he passes!. I think SmuCommitt raised some question about Rashard Turner but his sources appeared to be more of the general hearsay rather than legitimate news source. SMU has never mean in the Michael Turner derby as far as I can tell. I think he's committed to a Big 10 school.

Re: Remaining TargetsHey Stallion, Guru, Peruna Punch, Corso, etc.: who would you like to see with the remaining scholarships?
You guys always seem to know your stuff. HOORAY, BEER!
Re: Remaining TargetsFirst and foremost, forget Michael Turner. If he were to sign with SMU his 4-stars would stand for the number of years he would warm the bench while Massey rolls for 1,800 yards/season. I think Massey is going to be special... maybe the best signing since Dickerson.
With the commit of Brandon Bonds, my #1 pick is now Kharylake Martin. Our current offensive line is marginal and we need another beast in the stable. Martin is the biggest kid in the State 100. To get from A to B fast we still need Thomas Derricks, so he'd be my #2. You get Derricks and Karrington can go back to strongside DE with Desmond Jones as the heir apparant. With Bonds' size and strength he may already be ready to back up Adami and (hopefully) Derricks. #3 is Fontenot. I hear he's a playmaker and you can never have enough of those. #4 How about a 280 lb center? Is there one one there? Other than that, just sign best player available. IMHO we've filled all our needs with terrific prospects. I can't be greedy. "It's a couple hundred million dollars. I'm not losing sleep over it." -- David Miller
Re: Remaining TargetsDoes anyone know what kind of student Kharylake Martin is?
It's OK to be greedy, PP - we've had some lean years. It's time for the Mustang Stampede to begin!
Re: Remaining TargetsWhat about Austin Russell of Carrollton (Newman Smith)? He's about 6-3, 320. Has he committed anywhere?
Or there was a guy in Oklahoma named Eddie Montoya who's supposed to be a terrific center. Any word on him? And the lineman from Sugar Land (Dulles) - Toby Kaiyewu (6-4, 320). Can he play center? "It's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses."
... "Hit it."
Re: Remaining TargetsIf a guy gets too big can he still get the ball between his legs?
Go Ponies!!
Beat whoever it is we are playing!! @PonyGrad
Re: Remaining TargetsI'll bypass the obligatory jokes that your comment inspires. However, for the sake of comparison, Damien Woody plays center (usually) for the New England Patriots and he's betwee 330 and 340, so I'd think it's possible to play that big.
Re: Remaining Targetsnot to slam Martin, there is no talent evaluator in the country who would pick Martin over Derricks who is national recruit-a Gold Chip All-American who could go just about anywhere he wants. Derricks is the prize!

Re: Remaining TargetsI agree, Thomas Derricks has to be No. 1 on our list.
As far as I can tell, Kaiyewu is still sitting on offers from SMU, UTEP, Stanford, Colorado, Northwestern, LSU, Iowa State, Cal, Arkansas, Texas A&M and Baylor. I don't have a good reason why, but I think I'd prefer him over Martin. He's not quite as big ("only" 6-4, 320) but he's quicker. Any way we can get both? Fountain of youth
