I think we Richard, Law, Myers, and a couple others make the fastest impact. Hopefully in the future we can get more players with quality offers and win some heavy recruiting wars again more BCS teams. 2013 class will be critical for success in the BE IMO. Hopefully we redshirt the bulk of the class to develop them and see what comes out in our inaugural year in the BE. Should be an interesting year for sure.

If we have a great year (and we should with Gilbert, Line, D. Johnson, etc.) recruiting will be better next year. If we have a loosing year, don't expect much. Winning is EVERYTHING (Vince Lombardi).

And if we get some crazy looking Nike jerseys recruiting is going to take off as well, right?

We're going to know exactly what direction the 2013 class is headed in long before we play a game. If the staff has another lethargic start then it won't matter how much we win because most of the recruits worth a damn in the state will be committed elsewhere and the rest won't be interested. We can't afford another class filled with recruits picked off from WAC and Sun Belt schools.

After much contemplation, I have the following question: why does it matter if our recruits have lots of "quality" offers? Doesn't it just matter if we win all of our games?

What do you think our odds are of winning all our games with a bunch of players nobody wanted? The teams with highly ranked recruiting classes (filled with players that had a lot of quality offers) win national championships and the majority of BCS games because they have the best talent. If you're landing guys that the top programs want then that's a sign that your talent level is high and you're likely to win more games with better talent.

Welcome to SMU guys, you'll do just fine. In reviewing the information about these guys, I'm impressed with what I usually want to see, linemen with size and d-linemen with speed. All three d-linemen had 40 times that were under 4.9 including the 280 lb. back. The O-line had speed. The QB is a top 20 national recruit. We needed some bodies in the defensive backfield and got some with speed. Line is supposedly even better than his brother, and he probably won't mind being redshirted this year so that his bro can go for the Doak Award. Yeah, we missed on some guys who might have been better, but given the turmoil that occurred in the month prior to signing with the ASU debacle, Klemm leaving, Rhinehold drama, etc., I think we did pretty well. Next year hopefully will be quieter and less disruptive and that we do even better next year. To the glass half-empty crowd this was a missed opportunity, to the glass half-full crowd, it is a whole lot better than most classes we've seen here over the past 25 years.

While reading reviews of our class this year, two things hit me. They all seem to be TEAM players, ready to build something big together. They also all appear to be decent students in the class room, which means they will get in and stick around unlike some highly rated kids last year. In my playing days, the "No I in TEAM" counted for a lot toward success on the field. This may indeed turn out to be an even better class than last year. Welcome Recruits and I look forward to watching you develop.

Gilbert will be a major plus.
