Sturdivant update

You can rest a lot easier regarding Joe Sturdivant's remaining visit this weekend to Georgia Tech. See the below update off the GT website:
"I sure did commit to SMU," Sturdivant said. "If I could pick the perfect school for me SMU would be it. They had every single thing I was looking for in a school. Great coaches. I really believe that Coach Bennett is really going to turn things around. They're going to win the WAC next year. He's going to be a great coach for me. Coach Gush, that would be my defensive backs coach, we really got a good relationship going on through the recruiting process. It worked out having him as my recruiting coach. I fit in well with them. All the players, those are the kind of guys I want to play with. They're not all big time big shots up there. They're hard workers and they want to win. They're dedicated and do what the coaches tell them. The campus is beautiful and it has an amazing business school and everything."
Sturdivant said the fact SMU wanted him all along made the decision easier for him. They were the first team offer, doing so last summer, and they always made it clear they really wanted him.
"That was big time for me. They showed that they wanted me. They knew I was a player. Some of these other teams overlooked me. I don't know why they did, these other teams, I guess they wanted me as their third or fourth choice. SMU told me I was their No. 1 choice. I really liked that. They didn't miss a week in calling me except for the dead periods when they couldn't call. I just have a really good relationship with them."
Sturdivant said he is solid with SMU but does plan on taking one or two more visits.
"As of right now I'm still taking my official to Georgia Tech but I'm definitely strongly committed to SMU right now. I love that place."
His Georgia Tech visit has been scheduled for this upcoming weekend, January 17th. He might also visit Navy on the 31st.
"Since I was a little I always wanted to be a Navy SEAL so I still want to see what it's like up there and check things out."
