Naylor May Still Be In Play

as I suspected some of those Oklahoma kids that went out with Oklahoma top recruit Robert Meachum may not have an offer from UCLA's new staff. DE Blake Smith from Tulsa Union 6-4,240 4.6 was called tonite and told that no scholarship was availiable. Naylor seemed ready to commit this weekend according to his comments but something seemed to be holding him back. Smith and Naylor are comprable players although Naylor is more of a DT. Does UCLA have room for Naylor? No commit yet. SMU has offered Naylor and hopefully get back in the race.

there's a post on the Bruins Rivals board that says Naylor's offer is on HOLD just as I expected. Now is the time to go in a show him some Love.

What about the other DT from Oklahoma, Ben Mitchell? He's the biggest and strongest of the bunch. Anyone know where he stands, or if we're still pursuing him?

...I'm pretty sure that this guy is not being recruited by Division 1A schools. Rivals hasn't updated his status in 8 months.

Bennett will take Naylor because Whatasteve needs a Redskin on the team (even if that Redskin isn't from WA).

Thanks Stallion!
Too bad - he sounds like he has a perfect frame to be a strong DT.

I believe Stallion mentioned that Naylon was offered by SMU. Does that mean he came for a visit? If so, does anyone know where SMU ranks on his list at this point? Thanks for the feedback.

...there's a report on Rivals this morning confirming what I su****ioned-that Naylor has not been offered by UCLA and is "just waiting" to hear if another prospects accepts his scholarship. As far as I know SMU is the only other reported offer and he hasn't even visited. This kid needs some counseling that if he doesn't watch out he's going to be left out in the cold. He needs to take some visits.

I assume if SMU offered, he is academically eligible. Maybe he has his heart set on being a Bruin. I'd love it if he fell into our laps by default.

You cant assume that. We've offered and signed kids in the last few years who werent eligible yet. A couple have failed to make their test scores before September, and werent eligible to accept their Grant-in-aid. I dont know anything about Naylors grades or scores, he might be eligible, or he might not. Just saying you cant assume that he is.
