TCU & GP send three to NFL ProBowl and 3-6 in draft

Postby Goo » Thu Jan 16, 2003 6:16 pm

TCU and Patterson send 3 to ProBowl

L. TOMLINSON RB CHARGERS
ROBBINS C RAIDERS
B. URLACHER LB BEARS (played for GP @ UNM)

TCU sent 13 to NFL in 2001, which was second most of all schools (FSU sent 14)
TCU should send another 3-6 this year and LaMarcus should continue the TCU Linebacker success of URLACHER, BAYER, etc. Who will be TCU's next future PRO BOWL LINBACKER?

Gary Patterson is amazing at making average recruits into NFL draft picks. Look at HOBBS, whose stats are better than LADAINIAN, he was a 2 Star recruit last year. This also show how poor the rating services sometimes are. SMU doesn't fare so well with only recent NFL prospect transerring to LaTech or someplace.

Also rival avg stars:
#64 TCU 2.6 stars
#80 SMU 2.4 stars

TCU (10-2) and #22 team in nation. Good luck boys we need some competition for our BCS run next year.

#1 DEFENSE IN THE NATION LOOKING FOR 1 MORE LINEBACKER IN A SYSTEM THAT HIGHLIGHTS LB'S

TCU #1 Defense 2 of last 3 years.
TCU Top 5 Defense 5 years straight.

Patterson best defensive coach in nation.

If we want and SMU recruit, we'll just take 'em.

How bad did we beat you in basketball this year? Oh, and I love that purple color that you have all over your campus. And those stucco covered buildings just warm my heart. Amon Carter Stadium is a rare antique that must be savored. In 1974, the Frogs installed brand new astro-turf at AMC. Peruna properly christened it. You can look up the headlines in the Daily Campus. "SMU DUMPS ON TCU". We always will.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

Well I guess this makes it official...mustangmaniacs.com must be dead, the purple toads have followed the mustang faithful from mm.com to PonyFans.com. It's down right heart warming to see the love fest between the ponies and the toads bloom. There is nothing like a good rivalry to liven things up.

I congratulate all you purple froggies for what you have accomplished in the last 5 years, but I have no doubt we will soon be knocking on your door to wake you up...it will be great fun.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

Mean number of stars is meaningless. As pointed out on this board earlier, If you recruited 1 5-star kid, you'd have a 5-star average. If you recruited 25 4-star guys, you'd have a 4 average.

I'd like for someone to report the cumulative numbers (i.e. 1 3-star + 2 2-stars = 7 points), which is how Rivals and the rest rank a recruiting class. Thanks

I agree, hope you guys can make the rivalry fun again. Seems like a lot of you are upset that we're paying attention. I can't believe that you would try to talk smack in BBall, 2 out of 12 is not good.

Note to froggies: we don't care. Take such jibberish back to mustangmaniacs.com or your little froggy forum. We don't have the time and energy to waste worrying about tcu. When we play each other, we'll cheer for our guys, you'll cheer for yours. One team will win, one team will lose. Beyond that, tcu has no importance to us. Please don't waste our time.

Good luck to you and your teams.

In football, the frogs have done really well for the last 5 years. Hopefully the Ponies can catch up in the next couple of years with solid recruiting classes. I think we will be able to hold the game close this year, as both teams will play solid defense and keep the score down. Next year is going to be a great game, IMHO. But for now, "Advantage: Frogs"

What is a cross between the Tick and the Noid? The SMU mascot! Our new uniforms might be really cool, but nobody will notice while they look at that thing running around the field. "Advantage: Frogs"

As for recruiting this year, TCU and SMU are neck and neck. The good news is that we are both doing better than the sand aggies and the branch davidians. So at least we aren't fighting for the 7th and 8th best classes like we were at the end of the SWC Image. TCU has a higher star average right now, but SMU has more commitments. And SMU's committments are maybe a smidge better at this point, but where Armstrong and Cleveland end up will decide who wins out this year. Both schools are having very, very good recruiting years though for NON-BCS schools, and should contribute to both schools doing well in their conferences and keep the rivalry going strong. "Advantage: push"

SMU has better facilities and a great stadium. "Advantage: SMU".

FORT WORTH sucks. "Advantage: SMU"

So, overall it looks like a push. But when you factor in that all of the above are variable except for the fact that FORT WORTH WILL ALWAYS SUCK, the clear advantage goes to the Mustangs of SMU.

I'm amazed to see that someone from Austin does not bleed that puke orange color and worship an ugly pile of wasted steak. Maybe I don't give some Austiners enough credit.
