Before 2014 defensive back Chris Hardeman (Houston, Texas/Taylor) showed his skills at Sunday’s Nike Football Training Camp in Irving, Texas, he visited College Station, Texas, and took in the Texas A&M campus with teammate and highly touted 2013 recruit Torrodney Prevot.
Hardeman, a 5-foot-9, 180-pound cornerback, picked up his first offer on Friday from SMU. On Saturday, he visited Texas A&M and said he enjoyed the overall experience.
“I liked it a lot. You could tell Coach [Kevin] Sumlin is real serious about winning a championship,†Hardeman said. “They said they want me to get my transcript down as soon as possible, and we will go from there.â€
Recruited by Aggies running backs coach/recruiting coordinator Clarence McKinney, Hardeman said he feels the recruiting process is starting to take off for him. The offer from SMU ended frustration within himself, and he’s now looking to eventually pick up multiple offers. Hardeman was offered by SMU assistant coach Jason Phillips.
“I talked to Torrodney and talked to his dad,†Hardeman said. “They kept reminding me that I’m still only a sophomore. They told me to keep grinding, and everything will come for me.â€
Hardeman helped his recruiting resume with his performance Sunday at the NFTC, standing his ground competing with some of the nation’s top defensive backs and against some of the nation’s top receivers. Hardeman currently is getting looks from LSU, Oregon, Utah, Kansas, Texas and Texas A&M.
