Stallion/ArmstrongStallion,
I know you are keeping track for us and the Longview paper reported over the weekend that Joel Armstrong committed to Rice so you can mark him off. Also, I still think we have a great shot at Kharylake Martin as soon as we announce our new offensive line coach. Do you remember the exact date Stanley left? I'm sure the job was posted soon thereafter.
Re: Stallion/Armstrongwell that may not be accurate because he reported last night he was not committed after returning from Rice.

Re: Stallion/Armstrongname your source because the Rivals story said he had returned from his Rice trip and was going to take a few days to think about. Is anyone confirming this since last Nite. Not even the Rice board is mentioning a commitment.

Re: Stallion/ArmstrongTODAY'S Longview News-Journal -- that includes quotes from Hatfield and Armstrong! Is that good enough?
Re: Stallion/ArmstrongIt is in the Longview News Journal that he decided on his way home from Rice
Re: Stallion/ArmstrongWe had posted the update on sammytheowl.com this morning (along with a DB from San Antonio Clark). Rice has 11 commitments now - Armstrong was the 1st 3-star, but there are several 2-stars and a few 1-stars. Sounds like a decent class, but I'm not sure why Rice can't get more good players from Houston.

Re: Stallion/ArmstrongGood luck to him. Rice is a good fit for an option QB.
Re: Stallion/ArmstrongI'm not so sure about this Rice committment. From my sources, Bennett was planning an in-home visit...until I see something official, I'm not a believer.

The only thing thats truly "official" is signing day. The recruiting websites and other pundits dont have any official status, and may not be any more reliable than the guys hometown newspaper. Maybe less.
Re: Stallion/Armstrongthe confusion started when the initial post said that the Longview paper reported "over the weekend" which I knew to be incorrect as shown by (modesty aside) masterful cross-examination skills which ultimately revealed the truth. Nevertheless I bet Bennett makes a few more attempts at Armstrong.

Re: Stallion/ArmstrongThe most interesting part is that you say the Longview paper quoted Hatfield. NCAA coaches are not allowed to comment in any way on a high school player, and if Coach Hatfield did - which I doubt, because he's way too smart and has been around way too long - then that should be brought to the attention of proper officials. That is as direct a violation of NCAA rules as can be committed.
