Combined our 10 commits have a total of zero BCS school offers. And our 10 commits have a total of 4 offers from D-1 schools not named SMU.

Impressive

This is ok because JJ is best coach in CFB history. He will just coach them up. He knows better than all other 122 FBS coaches. June knows all, June knows all, June knows all, June knows all, June knows all. If you say it enough times it becomes true, doesn't it?

I think one had a Memphis offer...so that's like sort of, kind of, maybe a quasi-future BCSish offer. We can count it as 1/3 of a BCS offer, right?

Doesn't one have a SDSU offer as well? Trust JJ and his antiquated offense!

yeah but he admits San Diego St(SDSU) wouldn't return his phones calls to set up visit-not to be confused with South Dakota St(SDSU) which seems to be all over our kids

The Memphis and SDSU offers are two of the four other D-1 offers our 10 commits have received. I classified BCS offers as schools that are currently in a BCS conference.

SMU added an 11th commit yesterday and his offers are from UNT and UTSA. And no I am not joking.

We're another step closer to reaching the top of the 1-AA ladder. Look out Sam Houston State!

This sounds like the Cavan years. A couple of these kids will pick up offers over the summer and during their senior years, but man oh man.

I agree with the statements above, but lets also remember that we had some truly big time commits from Klemm that either transferred or never set foot on campus for a variety of reasons.

While I love getting high 3 star and 4 star guys with BCS offers, and as evidenced by Klemm we can and SHOULD be getting these guys...let's also remember that other factors are at play - such as how the player fits in the Off/Def systems, can they remain eligible academically, do they want to be at SMU, etc.

I am not making excuses for this staff, but there are other considerations than just star ratings and offers. That being said, I have been very disappointed with the lack of quality offers for our commits thus far.

The whining from some PonyFans is unreal. Three straight bowls and you're comparing this to the Cavan years? I have all the respect in the world for the guys who played for Coach Gregg, Coach Rossley, Coach Cavan and Coach Bennett, but if you look at the athletes coming in now compared to the athletes who came in then and think there's any comparison at all, you're insane. We had guys who were lightly recruited over the last few years who picked up more offers, and some of these guys will, too. People had a "who's he?" reaction to the OL from Temple who was the first commitment, and then one of the sites came back with three all-important "stars." Use your eyes and watch the games. The talent and depth are getting better, and there's no reason to believe that won't continue.

You're right that the athletes coming in the last couple of years are superior to those in the past but to suggest that is caring over to this class is just not true. 10 commits with no BCS offers and many of them with SMU as their only offer. That's just fact. Look at our last few classes where we had the big upgrade in talent. Most, if not all of our impact players had multiple BCS offers. I'm not saying these 10 guys won't be players but history suggests it is a long shot. Plus, the fact that we aren't even sniffing a Texas Top 100 player after 3 straight bowl games is puzzling and sad.

I've been watching the games and what I've seen is us getting our butts kicked almost every time we face an opponent with a pulse. So what if the talent and depth is getting better if it's not good enough to beat anyone?

That is not exactly true. If you look at the last few classes and its key contributors, most did not have BCS offers: Torlan Pitman, Cole Beasley, Ryan Smith, Zach Line, Taylor Reed, Derr'ick Thompson, Sterling Moore, Richard Crawford, Kenneth Acker.

1 BCS offer/2 star: JG Davis

BCS offers/heavily recruited: Stephon Sanders, dJ3.
