Football Camps

Postby No Quarter » Fri Jan 31, 2003 10:51 pm

Didn't Bennett and staff run a football camp at SMU last year? Does anyone know how many players committed to D-1A colleges came to the SMU camp? Most important, how many who attended are committed to SMU? Would some close observer summarize the value of a camp to recruiting>

...just about every top recruit in the North Texas area plus Oklahoma were invited to that camp-I'm sure many commits visited plus many others who showed interest-you can tell because many of the pictures in the Rivals Database had the red brick of Ford Stadium in the background. I thought it was huge when they announced it and definitely thought it played a part in our success. Our campus will sell recruits once we get them there-although maybe not as grand as some of the BCS stadiums.

I know Jones was there for the one day camp before two a days started. Pretty sure that Dorsey came in for a one day camp. Meeks was there at the 3 day camp. Not wanting to jump the gun for next year yet, but, there was a great looking defensive end from Tulsa Union that was a junior this year that will be a prize for someone...hope it's us.
