...as predicted SMU is moving up the average rank per recruit class rankings on Rivals. They are now 67th in average per recruit and 45th in total points. They are still the No. 1 Non-BCS class in Total Points. They are third among non-BCS schools in average per recruit (among statistically significant schools with more than 5 reported commits) behind TCU and Louisville.

I know this is great, but just for perspectives sake how much better than the last few years? Didn't we always end up in the 90-100 range?

I'm not a subscriber to Rivals, but I would assume the average star ranking probably includes Ben Poynter - who apparently is an invited walk-on. I would think walk-ons should not be included in the average ranking only scholarship players. Does anyone know if this is the case? Are any other SMU verbals invited walk-ons?

It may not make a big difference - just something to consider.

Interesting note - Jordan Newman who was mentioned as a verbal last month has been downgraded to 2 stars NR (3-star #56 DE).
