How come on the personal bios from SMU’s own press release we recognize every signee that is a 3-Star recruit except for Desmond Jones. Stallion had posted earlier that he was upgraded.

Also, to follow up on an earlier thread, is Wolcott a 4-Star kicker?

according to the Insiders he is a 4 star and the No.4 kicker in the US. Of course, there probably ain't a kicker in the world that's worth a 4 star prospect in the field but that's the Insiders says.

theinsiders takes a "value by position" approach, whereas rivals takes an "overall value" approach... looks like there are several four-star kickers on TI but none on rivals.

Wolcott could be our most significant signing regardless of what he is rated by a recruiting service. A good kicker can keep us in games and help with field position. A&M has lost a few games over the past few years due to poor field goal kicking. A great signing for the Mustangs!!!

I'm excited about Wolcott, but I was expecting Rickey Wilson to sign. Guess Wolcott was the backup...at any rate, I'm thrilled we signed Doak's grandson, a GREAT kicker.

I am glad we got a quality kicker as well. Over the last few years, we have suffered from lack of a punter and place kicker. Often we have fourth and long on the opponent’s 15-yard line and we go for it cause the distance is too far for our kicker. How many games did we give away cause out punter couldn't handle the snap or kicked a booming 15 yard punt in a crucial situation?

I hope we can put some of these problems behind us.

I don't know that I agree with the poor rating of our punting game in the past. I don't think it has been that horrible. The kicking game well.....that's a different story and has been miserable the entire time I have followed SMU football, although it has seemed to decline recently. Hopefully Wolcott can fix that.

On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney?
