Jersey is the same, pants are light silver with red and blue stripes (e.g. Georgia). The helmet will take some getting used to. It is very dark blue (not quite navy) with a red mustang. There is no white outline on the mustang logo, so the helmet looks kind of dark. I was hoping for the metallic blue helmet like the NY Giants. Overall, not a bad uniform, just might take awhile to warm up to.

I confess to being somewhat conservative, but I thought our uniforms as they exist are one of the best looks in the NCAA. And I must also confess that these uniforms are one of the few things that tie us to the better days of the late 70's and 80's. I am a believer in maintaining traditions and I thought the white helmet/white pants was a great look. I haven't yet seen the new look, but I'm not so sure the uniform was broke to begin with. Maybe we have a few other areas to better ourselves as relating to football before we got to the uniforms...

[He said during the season some players were talking about other teams uni's and how good they looked, he said "that I believe if you feel and look good, then you will play good, but with that being said we could still end up as being the best dressed team in ncaa but not have the best record. But we got a lot of information from the kids, but then we did what parents do, we listened and then had the final say. The kids are very excited and so are we."

Personally, if Bennett said we would win in pink uniforms then i would wear a pink uni. Oh, he also said something along the lines that we wanted to make a statement that things are going to change in our program and this might help people notice.

The dark blue (almost black)helmet with dark blue face mask has a cool Darth Vader look...perhaps an intimidation look to spook the other team. At any rate I like it.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

As I posted over in the football forum, there is a black and white photo of the new uniform in the Dallas Morning News.

The DMN picture was black and white - hard to see.

And the caption said the "model" was D.D. Johnson - I thought it was D.D. Lee at the Mustang Club gathering?

Nice job, having the name BENNETT on the jersey.

(Disclaimer: I'm and Aggie who's always liked SMU but became a bit of a fan when Bennett took over)

Having gotten that out of the way I have to tell you I think it's great the 'Stangs are getting new uni's.

I honestly believe that your colors (R,W & B) are the most appealing and lend themselves to many nice combinations.
Although I am always on board with tradition, the statement of moving into a new era is a very important one, especially when you consider the struggles of the SMU football program for the last 15? or so years.
Very good recruiting class, great campus, great coach, I think a simple gesture like a uniform change can make a very loud noise.

Now go kick some WAC butt!

I think the uniform looks fine but I would suggest a little less emphasis on the red on the Jersey. I really like Virgina's jerseys with the same blue but a more conservative use of orange to outline the neck and sleaves. They are 100% better than the SMU Jets look.
