Greatest Prospectus Ever

Postby Stallion » Thu Feb 06, 2003 12:58 pm

....Man I really got to hand it to you guys on the great job you did with the recruit prospectus. I've read every prospectus for the last 30 years and even helped put together a few when I assisted in the SIDs office in the early 1980s, but this edition was so far better than any I've ever seen that you should be congratulated. Usually by the time these things come out I've already learned just about all you read in these things but you gave new perspectives from the HS Coach, the Player and Bennett.

Many thanks, Stallion - your encouragement is much appreciated.

I AM and I have worked really hard putting this together, but it's also been a great deal of fun (although I admit, I probably could sleep for about a month, and I bet I AM is in the same situation).

It was a real treat interviewing all the players. Coach Bennett was exactly right when he spoke of the character and class of the players in this class. Each and every one was thoughtful, courteous and genuinely excited about SMU. Getting to know them just a little bit before they arrive on campus was a blast.

And, while we're throwing around kudos here, thanks to Stallion, Recruiting Guru, Mickey, and all the rest of the PonyFans (too many to name, but you know who you are) for all the information you shared with PonyFans through the recruiting season.

So who's got the first tips on next year's recruits?

Thank you PonyFans.com! Once again, you've shown that you are without question the best source for SMU news and information. For those of us who don't live in Dallas anymore, it's nice to have PonyFans.com to keep us up to date on the Ponies.

And for those who haven't looked yet, check out the pictures of the recruits.

- Kenard Burley looks like he could block an entire defense by himself.
- Reynaldo Pellerin gets the Best Picture Award, for getting decked out in fresh SMU gear.
- Justin Boren looks like he'd run over anyone and anything in his path.
- Avery Cleveland looks a little thin, but his bio makes him sound amazing.
- Who did Charlie Berry's hair?

Great work!! I also enjoyed looking at which player hosted them and the coach that recruited them. I think that is a cool way to look at it. Also, was great to read about how the recruits (Ricky Joe and others) actually helped with recruiting once they were committed. That is great stuff.

Good call - sounds like Anthony Barnett got a big bunch of guys for this class, either with his Carter connection (Desmond Jones) or all the guys he hung out with on recruiting visits.

Actually, you can find the "Recruiting Roundup" toward the bottom of the sidebar to the left of your screen right now...just click on it.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

I agree with everyone else. Your Recruiting Roundup is absolutely fantastic. And, you do a super job with this Board.

I've been a fan of yours ever since your friend Jinks told me about it. Both of you
guys get some rest and have a few brewskis on me. Tell Jinks he can pay for them.

You all really need to start giving URL's. It makes it much easier on everyone.

The recruiting roundup can be found here: <A HREF="http://www.ponyfans.com/recruitindex.html" TARGET=_blank>http://www.ponyfans.com/recruitindex.html</A>

The fashion (uniform) roundup can be found here: <A HREF="http://www.ponyfans.com/uniforms.html" TARGET=_blank>http://www.ponyfans.com/uniforms.html</A>

Great and exciting coverage. It is one thing, over the past few week to be reviewing the briefest player stats and ratings but this coverage really gives you an insight on the players and the recruiting evaluation process, the performance of the coaches and current players in the process.

Exciting!!
