When I talked to Johnny Ringo Wednesday morning (I'm not bragging, I just called him because I couldn't stand waiting any longer to find out whether we had signed all of our commits), we talked about the guys we signed and I did ask him if we were recruiting the Juniors yet. He said that was what he was working on when he picked up the phone. He was starting to put together our list of Juniors who we wanted to go after. I didn't ask for any names since I didn't want to be in possession of such dangerous information. If I don't know, I can't inadvertantly disclose something which I shouldn't. I did, however, suggest that it sure would be great if we could sign Franklin Okam who every school in the country will want as a Defensive Tackle, and suggested that we get Desmond Jones to work on his Junior linemates at Carter. In any event, I wouldn't be surprised if some of the players on your list are on SMU's list.

I'd say Kenton Thornton and Earl Thompson should be on the list of early offers, too.

In Rhett Bomar, you get a top-notch, legit D-1 quarterback or a top-notch, legit D-1 defensive back. The guy has a terrific arm, outstanding speed, and he will knock the stuffin' out of you. Tough, talented and real smart (academically)! I know Mack wants him, Bob S. would like to have him. I think Phil can sell him on SMU. I think this player would be worth it even if it was a son/dad deal. His dad is a good coach; he just does not have enough talent at Grand Prairie High. You can see him in action this spring on the Gopher baseball team.

It's a long story how I got a hold of this information but Mack Brown has already started working on Rhett Bomar, apparently Mack had Rhett and his family over dinner over the summer. I know for a fact that the dinner at Coach Brown's house over the summer is against NCAA rules and Texas should be penalized.

It seems like there's a heavy Ennis influence on that list. Did someone down there give you the list? Or are they really that loaded for next year?

I know Rhett has attended the UT football camp a couple of times and the OU camp, as well. I think big sis was working in the athletic office at OU early on but I think her grades fell below C-level and she is on hiatus from OU and maybe back in GP. I think he should play QB wherever he goes and I would imagine he would like to have that guarantee. Although he is fast enough and tough enough to play DB in D-1. Go Phil!
