That's .... well .... Dement-ed.

The folks at Insiders also probably think:
- Quincy Carter is a starting-caliber NFL quarterback
- Jennifer Lopez has talent
- Baylor has hope of winning the Big 12, now that Guy Morriss is steering that Titanic
- Lottery tickets are a sure-fire way to prepare for your future

Evidently, the insiders hasn't updated our recruits' ratings. We still have half of our class listed as one-stars. Check out UNT's class and all of them are two-stars and above (total 38). Hardly any of UNT's recruits were recruited at all by quality programs. the insiders is a joke.

I haven't posted here before, but wanted to reply to StangEsq's post.

UNT signed several players that were OFFERED (not just shown interest) by BCS schools.

DT Michael Pruitt - All-American JC decommited from Kansas for UNT

QB Johathan Ieans - Offered by Arizona

DT Adam Venegas - Offered by Kansas

DT T.J. Raymond - Offered by Baylor

DE Eli Hutchinson - Offered by Indiana

DE Charles Dupree- JC Originally signed by Okla.

Pitching these in because SMU is listed.

DE Curt Jones (brother of UNT safety Craig Jones) had strong interest from SMU,TCU,Texas

OL Rendel Bailey has strong interest from TCU,SMU & Kansas State

Coaching can make a huge difference in any recruiting class. I dont see too many in the WAC better than Bennett...

Didn't mean to bash our UNT friends -- was just trying to make a point about the insiders.

I wouldn't consider Baylor, Indiana, Kansas or even Arizona quality offers... those teams haven't exactly been tearing up the NCAA lately. The two Oklahoma JUCOs were good catches, but I don't see the other guys on many all-state teams and they were all two-stars or worse on Rivals.

StangEsq. A question. Of the recruits signed by SMU, how many had actual OFFERS on the table from other schools? Just curious. By the way, IMHO you have an excellent coach in Bennett.

For specific info on what schools had interest and/or offered our recruits, please refer to the PonyFans.com Recruiting Roundup.

To answer the question. Of our 23 recruits, 14 had 'paper' offers from legit D1A programs. 3 more recruits (Meeks, Boren and McGee) would have received numerous offers had they not committed to SMU early and resolutely (e.g. Ervin McGee wouldn't even pick up the phone to talk to another school). 5 more players had paper offers from more marginal D1A programs and D1AA programs like Navy, Louisianna-Lafayette, etc.

Our only recruit that didn't have a paper offer was Ryan Wolcott, a highly regarded kicker whose services were being sought by the likes of UT and Texas Tech - at a specialist position like kicker, I assume that it's much harder to get a scholarship.

I don't have any "inside info" on who offered what to our recruits, but just from a couple of online resources (including this site), here are some of the offers:

Phillips: Texas ATM, Arkansas, Louisiana Tech, Iowa State
Massey: Texas, Arkansas, (turned down trip to Miami), Alabama, Texas ATM, TCU, Colorado, Florida, UCLA, Boston College, Wisconsin, Oregon,
DeLay: West Virginia
Avery Cleveland: Colorado, Arkansas, Missouri, Georgia Tech, TCU, New Mexico, Texas ATM
Hall: Iowa State
Muse: Oklahoma State
Moss: Arkansas
Sturdivant: Georgia Tech, Florida State
McGee: Northwestern
Meeks (committed early)

If anyone has any others, feel free to pitch in.
