Another Player For Next YearFound an interesting story this morning about a young man who will be a walk-on this fall. His name is Andrew Feige and he attends Lake Highlands H.S. He is 6'2" and weighs 270. He was an All District offensive guard. He is also an outstanding heavyweight wrestler and has qualified for the State Tournament this weekend with a 42-1 record. His one loss was early in the season and he later avenged the loss. He said that wrestling has really helped him strength wise and he is looking forward to attending S.M.U.
Re: Another Player For Next YearOutstanding - Thanks for the update, 50s!
Re: Another Player For Next YearThat's what I like to hear. Do you know (or does anyone) if he had offers from any other programs? A few of these types of players each year can really add to our depth. We need to get the program to a level of attractiveness that we get players that might have had some other options.
Re: Another Player For Next YearSounds like the kind of player Coach Bennett was talking about when he said he wanted "quality" walk-ons. A 270-pound walk-on is nice, and if he's a wrestler, you know he's pretty strong and flexible and durable. Great pick-up!

Re: Another Player For Next YearGotta love this kind of walk-on. I seem to recall Lute Croy coming in at about this same size...and he was another H.S. grappler who turned out to be a pretty good D.L. Of course, Croy had a lot of interest from BCS schools...I just don't recall what other offers he had when he chose SMU.
Re: Another Player For Next YearCroy decommitted from Colrado in the interim when Neuheisal left for Washington. He had other BCS offers as well.
